DAW Easy Setup Guide

With the VS-1, setup is effortless — just plug in, set your DAW, map your controls, and start playing. No drivers to install, no downloads to chase, no headaches — just pure, uninterrupted time for you to create your next masterpiece.

General MIDI Setup (All DAWs)

  1. Connect the VS-1 via USB — no drivers needed, it’s class-compliant MIDI.

  2. Power up your DAW.

  3. In your DAW’s MIDI Preferences / Settings, make sure:

  4. Track/Input (or similar) is enabled for the VS-1 so it can send MIDI to your DAW.

  5. Remote/Control Surface is enabled so you can map controls.Output to the VS-1 can be left on or off — it’s optional unless you’re sending MIDI back.

 

Ableton Live Setup

  1. Go to Preferences → Link/MIDI.

  2. Locate "VS-1" in the MIDI Ports section.

  3. Enable:Track = ON

  4. Remote = ON
    (Leave Sync OFF unless you’re clocking MIDI from Live.)

  5. For fast mapping:

  6. Press CMD+M / CTRL+M to enter MIDI Map Mode.

  7.  Click the control in Ableton, twist a knob or press a button on VS-1.

  8. Exit MIDI Map Mode to lock the assignment.

 

 

Logic Pro Setup

  1. Open Logic Pro → Settings → MIDI → Inputs.

  2. Make sure the VS-1 is checked in the MIDI Input list.

  3. Open the Controller Assignments window to map controls.

  4. For transport mapping, assign Play/Stop/Record in Key Commands to the three VS-1 buttons.

 

 

Cubase / Nuendo Setup

  1. Go to Studio → Studio Setup → MIDI Port Setup.

  2. Enable the VS-1’s input and output.

  3. In MIDI Remote Manager, add the VS-1 as a device.

  4. Map knobs, encoder, and buttons via Cubase’s Learn function.

 

 

FL Studio Setup

  1. Go to Options → MIDI Settings.

  2. Under Input, select the VS-1 and enable it.

  3. Turn on Enable and set Controller Type to “Generic Controller”.

  4. Use Link to Controller (right-click on a parameter) and twist a knob/button on the VS-1.

 

 

Reaper Setup

  1. Go to Options → Preferences → MIDI Devices.

  2. Double-click the VS-1 in the Input list.

  3. Enable input from this device

  4. Enable input for control messages

  5. Use Reaper’s MIDI Learn to map any parameter.

 

 

Pro Tools Setup

  1. Go to Setup → MIDI → MIDI Input Devices.

  2. Check the VS-1 in the list.

  3. Use Setup → Peripherals → MIDI Controllers to assign the VS-1 if you want HUI-style control, or map MIDI CCs manually in instruments.

 

 

Tip: In any DAW, remember to save your MIDI mapping template so you don’t have to re-assign controls every session.
